Climb Out, a multiplayer paragliding card game

I’ve made a new prototype for the Design Research Playground. Climb Out is a multiplayer paragliding card game where you bank altitude, claim flying areas and call your mates for a retrieve.

It’s another exploration into ‘skinning’ existing game formats with other concepts, this time inspired by a card-based version of Monopoly. Instead of building a property portfolio to charge people rent on, your objective is to complete all the paragliding in as many areas as possible. Great flights are assets and altitude is currency. The equivalent of charging rent is calling on the other players to drive and pick you up when you land somewhere silly, which means they can’t be flying because they’re driving to get you.

Anyone who has played Monopoly Deal should feel at home, and a game takes around 20 to 45 minutes.

Play Climb Out here.
