Shadowplay continues to evolve in all kinds of exciting directions. In this version, at Lancaster’s incredible Light Up Lancaster festival we tested our ‘PromptJ’ for the first time. This is a ‘jammable’ user interface that I and Roger have been developing for the last couple of months.
PromptJ allows you to ‘pilot’ the prompts that the system uses to push imagery in no end of different creative directions.
It also allowed us to put the control in then hands of the audience through some very rapid development on the 2nd day of the festival to create a user interface on a portable tablet. One of my favourite things to happen over the weekend was a young audience member who took the tablet, sat in the corner and proceeded to beautifully pilot the system for about an hour!

Much more to come on Shadowplay – all kinds of exciting collaborations – but for now see the video from the event (above) and this little behind the scenes explainer about both Shadowplay and our new piece, Play of Light (more to follow on that).
