Seminar and Talk at Politecnico di Milano

I was delighted to give a talk at Politecnico di Milano, which I used as an opportunity to show some teasers from Permission to Muck About.

The post-talk discussion was fantastic, and I think it is slowly leading towards a more expansive purview that spreads sideways, south, and north from the ‘home ground’ of Design Research that the film is founded in.

The next day I had the privilege to run a seminar with Dr Maria Luce Lupetti. This was part of a series of seminars where around 60 masters students are running projects concerned with regenerative design, more-than-human design and AI.

By the end of the day the students had gone on quite a journey, honing their prompt craft skills to create decentered imagery, crafted conversational agents to represent non-human perspectives, and finally created short films that brought the whole thing together.

As ever, using generative AI in this context was both astounding (at what it can do) and foregrounded the limitations of the technology.

A treat to work with such engaged and talented students. Huge thanks for the invite and hosting to Professor Elisa Giaccardi.
