Lab Engagement: University of Washington, Seattle

Following directly on from our visit to SFU in Canada, this lab engagement focused on research meetings with Audrey Desjardins, James Pierce, Daniela Rosner, Tamea Tihanyi as well as huge range of students and other faculty staff - sorry but there are too many to name. Special shout out, however, to Tyler Fox who we rendezvous’d with after meeting at DRS Bilbao.

Day 1

After arriving via boat (see here for a little video made from the ferry from Victoria to Seattle) the previous day, we arrived at the Art Building on the University of Washington campus for a tour and some acclimatisation, before heading off to Slip Rabbit Studios.

Day 2

On day 2 we delivered a public seminar - Why the world needs design research - as well as delivering a lecture and creative workshop session around Research through Design at the school of Human Centered Design and Engineering (thanks to Daniela for arranging this!)

Day 3

Day 3 featured more research interviews and even time for a beer and a dinner.

Day 4

Our final (busy!) day included sitting on project meeting, learning about some amazing work design research around privacy enhancing technologies, an interview with James, and finally our public research workshop.

Next up… Studio Lab @ TU Delft!
